Place your foot on a piece of paper, draw the outline with the pen held right at the edge (not under the foot, not outside). Measure from heel to the longest toe. Do not add extra length! The Bauer & CCM charts already allow for enough space. The secure fit comes from correct lacing.
1) Open the skate wide, leave the top eyelets free at first. 2) Slide your foot in, push heel back. 3) Lace evenly from bottom to top. 4) Only tie the top eyelets last. This ensures the best fit.
Many Bauer & CCM skates are thermoformable. They naturally adapt while skating. To speed up: Preheat oven to 80–90 °C, turn off, place skates inside for 5–8 minutes, then put on, lace properly and sit still. Important: Do not stand on the blades, and always follow manufacturer instructions. Alternatively: Use the thermoform service at Hockeyzentrale.
Bauer uses Fit 1/2/3, CCM uses Tapered/Regular/Wide. Comparison: Fit 1 ≈ Tapered (narrow/low), Fit 2 ≈ Regular (medium), Fit 3 ≈ Wide (broad/high). In addition, many models also come in D (Regular) and EE (Wide) widths.
Conclusion & Recommendation: With proper foot measurement, correct lacing, the right fit system (Bauer or CCM), and a professional first sharpening, you are ready to hit the ice. A wide selection & great prices for Bauer & CCM skates can be found at Hockeyzentrale & Hockeyoffice.
General information about the skates:
1) Size chart:
For each product, you will find the menu item "Information and size help for the product". The skates open a size chart! To determine your correct size, measure your foot length and then select the appropriate euro size for the desired article. As soon as we have a shoe in our warehouse for the first time, we measure its insole inside and adjust the euro size of the shoes to our size chart. The manufacturer's information does not play a role, but only our euro information in the shoes. Our claim is that the shoe fits you right from the start. If the shoe still does not fit right away, of course they always have full exchange rights. Even a refund of the purchase price is possible.
2) quality of ice skates:
Basically, the higher the price (EIA) the better the quality. The quality of a shoe is reflected in the stability of the outer skin and wearing comfort. This means that if you have a higher-quality ice skate, the outer skin is more stable and the inner foot is more comfortable, or equipped with longer-lasting materials. Pay attention to the price information always on the difference to the empf.Verkaufspreis (crossed out price). Here are the promotions (SALE) usually the best value for money, which we can recommend in the respective price segments.
3) professional or beginner:
As a regular ice hockey player you should not buy a skate under € 150.00 Euro, the shoe should indeed deter the shots of the punks and balls noticeably. As a beginner, they can take cheaper skate, but should keep in mind that with the price, the durability and comfort increases.
