Ice Hockey Helmet Sizes & Head Circumference Measurement
A well-fitting ice hockey helmet is the most important protective element for players of all ages. The helmet reliably protects the head and skull – and partly the face – from pucks, collisions, and impacts. To determine the correct size, measure your head circumference with a tape measure just above the eyebrows and ears. Enter the measured value in centimeters in our form field – the correct helmet size will be displayed automatically.
Note:
All modern hockey helmets are adjustable. Always read the instructions, set the helmet larger at first, put it on and then adjust precisely. With this adjustment a hockey helmet can often be used for many years. The size ranges indicate the most likely recommendation.

Tip for kids/youth:
For children with shorter face/chin areas, a junior cage may be advisable if the head circumference fits. Choose the combination individually: e.g. senior helmet (based on head circumference) + Bosport Junior Cage for the correct chin fit.
Why the correct helmet size matters
A hockey helmet should neither sit too loose nor too tight. A helmet that is too large slips during falls or checks, while one that is too small presses and distracts. Only a properly adjusted ice hockey helmet guarantees optimal protection and comfort.
Junior vs. Senior Helmets
Junior helmets are narrower in the chin/face area and provide a snug fit for younger players. However, many teenagers already require a senior helmet (size S or M). In that case, a smaller junior cage ensures proper chin protection. A Bambini helmet is only suitable for very small heads and quickly becomes too small as the child grows.
